    What Is CRPA?

    Control Reception Pattern Antennas, or CRPA, is, at its most basic, a system designed to reduce RF interference and establish “truth” signals in the field. Although the system itself is complex, we’ll stick to simpler explanations for now.

    Unless you’re lucky enough to be situated at Edwards AF Base, getting hold of an anechoic chamber that’s large enough for CRPA testing is hard. Building your own chamber that’s large enough is an adventure on its own, often ending up being far too expensive.

    Field Testing

    Staging can only get you so far. There are countless variables to consider, and test time in the field is expensive. Even more frustrating, there are usually many teams contesting field use, so your time may be limited.


    Once the most expensive testing solution, evaluating CRPA capabilities through simulation has become far more attainable. In particular, advances in wavefront simulation technology have made solutions far more affordable than they were.
