Chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting

Chain-of-thought (CoT) prompting facilitates multi-stage reasoning by guiding models to express intermediate steps. This technique has given rise to adaptations like self-consistency, Least-to-most (LtM), and active prompting.

  • Self-consistency prompting: This variation involves constructing diverse paths of reasoning and selecting answers that exhibit maximum consistency. This approach ensures heightened response precision and reliability by leveraging a consensus-based mechanism.
  • Least-to-most prompting (LtM): LtM employs a sequential breakdown of problems into less complex sub-problems. The model solves them in order, with each subsequent sub-problem utilizing solutions from previously addressed ones.
  • Active prompting: Expanding the CoT approach to a larger scale, active prompting identifies pivotal questions for human annotation. ReAct prompting

Graph prompting is a strategic approach that capitalizes on a graph’s structure and content to guide a large language model.
