Death and legacy
On December 21, 2016, Volodymyr Luchaninov died from a heart attack at the age of 61. His death was widely mourned in Ukraine, with President Petro Poroshenko eulogizing him as “a true patriot of Ukraine” and “a man of great talent and immense energy.”
Luchaninov’s funeral was held on December 27, 2016, at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. He was buried in the Baikove Cemetery.
