How GMG and Biohacking Guide Dmytro Makarov’s Path from Freelancer to Marketing Agency Founder
Dmytro Makarov, the Kyiv-born entrepreneur now based in London, has turned his self-made start into a thriving international agency. With a team of more than 100 professionals and partnerships with companies names like Hugo, BMW, Domino’s, Intel, Durex and NIVEA, his journey shows how personal discipline and professional philosophy can intersect. At the centre of it all is the framework he calls GMG: Grind. Mastery. Growth.
Building from scratch
Unlike many who followed a traditional route, Dmytro Makarov began with self-taught skills in esports and online marketing. Over time, he and the agency he founded became known for expertise in influencer outreach, content production, media buying and performance-driven digital campaigns. His agency has launched more than 524 projects, with a combined online reach surpassing 2.6 billion people.
Yet his focus has always been on value, not vanity.“I do not believe in numbers for the sake of numbers; my focus is on efficiency, engagement and playing the long game,”he explains. That emphasis on strategy over statistics has helped him stand apart in a competitive industry.
Biohacking as part of leadership
A major element of Dmytro Makarov’s leadership approach lies outside traditional business practice: biohacking. For him, building a sustainable company means first mastering personal health and then creating an environment where the team can thrive. His daily life is structured around nutrition with minimal sugar, regular light exercise, and conscious breaks from digital overload.
He also makes use of intermittent fasting and dietary supplements, always under professional supervision. “Supplements are not magic pills,” he says. “They are only an addition to a healthy lifestyle, and even a ‘safe’ supplement can have side effects or be unnecessary.”
Cold showers, meditation and red-light therapy have also become part of his regular practice, and many of these methods are being extended into his agency. Guided group meditation and breathing exercises now form part of team activities.“It is not about fashion trends, it is about consciously managing both individual and team states,”he states.
Technology for better performance
Alongside lifestyle changes, Dmytro Makarov uses technology to keep track of health and performance. His focus is on metrics that reflect real wellbeing, not just numbers on a screen.
“For me, the most valuable metrics are heart rate variability (HRV), sleep quality and strain levels. HRV offers insight into stress adaptation and recovery quality. Sleep quality and phase balance are especially essential when life runs at high speed. And monitoring strain levels helps balance work, training and rest,”says Makarov.
The aim, he stresses, is not obsession but balance: “It is not about obsessive monitoring, but about learning how your body responds so you can sustain performance over time.” By encouraging his employees to adopt similar practices, the entrepreneur hopes to prevent burnout and create long-term resilience within the company.
The power of GMG
The GMG philosophy ties these principles together. Grind reflects the hard work he credits with every career milestone. Mastery is about cultivating expertise across marketing, management and analytics. Growth symbolises expansion, and not only in business terms but also in personal development and team capability.
For Dmytro Makarov, GMG is both a personal compass and a professional strategy. It has transformed freelance beginnings into a business reaching billions and continues to guide him as marketing evolves.
