Boston is a vibrant city, full of history, culture, and entertainment. However, sometimes you just need to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a relaxing weekend getaway. Luckily, there are plenty of weekend getaway options within a few hours’ drive with Boston car services, MA. Here are some great options to consider for your next weekend escape.

Newport, Rhode Island just a short drive from Boston, Newport offers stunning ocean views, historic mansions, and plenty of outdoor activities. Take a stroll along the Cliff Walk, tour the famous Gilded Age mansions, or go sailing on the bay.

Mystic, CT

It’s a great weekend getaway from Boston, with Mystic Pizza and the Mystic Aquarium.

Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, ME

If you have time, take a trip to Acadia National Park during your weekend in Bar Harbor. Acadia is the only national park in New England, so be sure to take advantage of your time there.

I highly recommend The Travelin Lobster (1569 ME-102 207-288-8028), their lobster roll will not disappoint.

Hotel: The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel (269 Main Street 207-288-5226) is reminiscent of the historic Rodick House, and is conveniently located near downtown and Acadia National Park.

Must do: Spend the weekend in Bar Harbor exploring Acadia National Park. If you aren’t a big hiker and don’t want to spend a lot of time hiking, this is the most accessible way to see the park. (The classic tour is only 2.5 hours, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore on your own!)

The White Mountain National Forest, NH

You may not know that the Kancamagus Highway runs right through the heart of the White Mountain National Forest when you think of New England. In the fall and winter, the White Mountains are truly spectacular. You can stay in charming small towns, hike great trails, and take in endless vistas.

There is something about wood covered bridges that perfectly captures the spirit of New England at the Covered Bridge Farm Table Restaurant (57 Blair Rd, 603-238-9115). You can stop for lunch at the Covered Bridge Farm Table Restaurant on your way up or down the White Mountains on your way back to Boston if you’re driving up or down the mountains.

There are many things to do in Vermont, including staying at the Omni Mountain Washington Resort (310 Mount Washington Hotel Rd, 603-278-1000). You can walk across the street to Bretton Woods and take a scenic gondola ride.

Need to see the foliage from Mount Washington’s summit but don’t want to go on the hike? The Cog Railway (3168 Base Station Rd, 800-922-8825) is a must-do. If you want to take in the views on this must do experience, book your tickets ahead of time so you don’t miss out on it. It’s been operating for more than 150 years.

Martha’s Vineyard
