6 Top Tips for Removing Stubborn Carpet Stains

1. Don’t Scrub Carpet Stains

Did you know that if you spill something like chocolate, chewing gum, or candle wax on your carpet, you can freeze it?

If these spills solidify, you can hold an ice cube on them until they freeze. You can then use something solid like a spoon to hit the frozen patch to break the pieces up. Then you can vacuum away the crumbs.

3. Use Club Soda to Remove Red Wine Stains

Wine stains can be some of the most annoying as they are hard to remove. Club soda is a great way to remove these stains.

4. Hydrogen Peroxide Removes Coffee Stains

You can use a little hydrogen peroxide to banish dark coffee stains. Be careful before using the solution and test it on a patch of carpet not visible. Hydrogen peroxide can bleach certain fabrics.

Spritz on the carpet, then place a clean, wet towel on top of the stain. You then put your iron on steam and place it on top of the towel. Hold down for 20 seconds; you should see some of the stain has seeped into the towel.

Keep repeating until you have removed the stain.

5. Leave Dirt and Mud Stains to Dry Out

Don’t be tempted to remove mud when it’s still wet. You need to be patient and wait until it is dry. Once dry, you can vacuum away the dry pieces.

If you still have a slight stain after vacuuming, use warm soapy water to remove it.

6. Vinegar for Animal Urine
